SMD Type
Surface mount type. It
has plate terminal for surface mounting on the PCB.
Normally, the cost of SMD type is a little higher than
the dipped type.
The reasons to use it:
- The reliability
- The efficiency of assembly. If all of the other components are SMD type then an SMD type inductor will avoid extra soldering processes.
- The material of the SMD type is better than the dipped type. Thermal shock, IDC, etc.
- All of their packages are taped package to be suitable to be automatic mounting.
